The locomotives, originally marked as a 178 kkStB class, were manufactured in Austrian Krauss Linz locomotive factory, The First Czechomoravian machine factory in Prague, Wien New Town, Floridsdorf a St.E.G. in 1898-1924. It was a typical representative of the state and private local railways locomotives in Austria-Hungary area. The extension of the 423.0 and 433.0 classes in the postwar time decreased a 422.0 class importance. They finished their service mainly as shunting locomotives and railway sidings. The last of them finished its regular service in 1970. The locomotive was forwarded to the new founded Czechoslovak State Railways (CSD) as 422.098 in 1918 and finished its regular service in 1955 when it was sold to Hodonin power station. Afterwards it was placed as a monument at Zabreh na Morave railway station, from where it was gained by KHKD in 1990. From 2000 the locomotive was loaned out to the Railway museum in Luzna u Rakovnika, where it was repaired as a not working exhibit by the club members. Since 2007 it is an exhibit on Siding Kněževes.
